After our long winter we are ready for spring and for the start of the watering season. Starting on May 1, water will begin flowing through the ditches. This is an exciting time for all of us as we start preparing for our fields, pastures and gardens for spring.
Please remember that it can take a couple of days for the water to reach the end of the ditch, depending on where you are located. If you’re near the end of the ditch, you may have to wait a little longer to see the water start flowing. Don’t worry, it will get there…eventually!
You may notice some debris or junk coming through with the water. This is normal and happens every year. As the water moves through the ditch, it can pick up sticks, leaves, and other debris that may have collected over the winter. This debris will have to be cleaned out to make sure that the water flows smoothly. Be prepared to do a little cleanup work. It’s a small price to pay to make sure that your water comes through smoothly and without a hitch.
Overall, ditch water season is an exciting time for all of us. It’s a sign that spring has arrived and that it’s time to start planting and growing. Just remember to be patient and prepared for a little bit of cleanup work along the way. Happy spring!
